The Top Three: Alternative Geeky Gifts

When you’re looking for a geeky gift and you’ve exhausted all the sitcom DVD’s, Pokémon games and Marvel comics on the planet, Christmas shopping can be problematic. We are now well into December, the high streets are getting manic and you don’t want to be ‘that guy’ who sells out and buys novelty socks. So what more can you get for the nerd who has everything?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

It turns out the world produces all kinds of unusual fandom pieces, you’ve just got to know where to look for it! And fortunately for you, I’ve done all the research so you don’t have to. As it’s been awhile since I’ve done a top three post, I’ve decided to cherry pick my finest gift ideas to showcase to you in all their glory.

So go ahead and check out my geeky Christmas ideas guide below (and maybe even treat yourself to something instead, because you matter the most).

And on we go...

Geek Gift Box

If you’ve not yet heard of geek gear boxes, prepare to be amazed. Cratejoy have pulled together some of the best geeky crates in the business for you to take a look at. Their contents vary, from geek chic schwag to fandom themed boxes, these bundles contain items that you won’t find just anywhere on the street. Many of the products inside are discounted, ensuring that you get your money’s worth inside this bundle of joy.

The crates' contents can include jewellery, stationary, clothes and beauty products, with every item being tailored towards the box's theme. The best thing about these gifts is that you can buy them as a one off for your friend, or if you want to treat someone (*cough*YOURSELF*cough) on a regular basis, you can subscribe to have a box delivered straight to your door every month. This way, Christmas can be all year round!

Finally, if you’re also looking for gifts for your non-nerdy friends and family (we can’t all be awesome guys), Cratejoy also offers boxes for all types of interests. From luxury beauty products, to book and tea clubs, to a box for the crazy cat lady (looking at you, sis). This site has it all! Just click on the link to the homepage here if you don’t believe me…

Nerdy Homeware

Spice up your bedroom with a few geeky printed items to proudly declare your nerdiness. Your bedroom is your sacred place, a space to showcase your personality and interests. Therefore if you’re a lazybum like myself, it’s probably where you spend most of your time (I am literally writing this buried under my duvet. I kid you not.)

Have you ever seen a room look more perfect?

For today’s post, I’m going to big up the line that I am now planning on buying everything within, the Primark Harry Potter range. Besides the ass-kicking clothes that they boast (check out my Potions class post to see the cutest jumper and socks you will ever see), they offer some stunning home pieces. With a choice of duvets, pillows and bedside table accessories, you’ll feel your inner magical self come alive with any of these pieces.

The best thing about Primark pieces is that they are massively affordable. So even if you are running low on the old pennies this month, this range has pieces starting from under a fiver. Read more about the products available here. They even feature house speciality pieces, so you can show off your Hogwarts school pride!

Where ma fellow Slytherins at?!

Fandom Jewellery

If you’re looking for a gift that is bespoke and one-of-a-kind, then this is the perfect one for you. We turn to our favourite little online store, Etsy, to support the independent traders of the fandom world. There you can find creators from across the globe, who are crafting the coolest things you could ever think of.

From Final Fantasy to Kingdom Hearts, this shop has charms for every gamer or anime fan.

Take LittleOwlAesthetics for example. This trader specialises in fandom jewellery based off of characters from shows from the anime and gaming worlds. Using different colour schemes and charms, you can own a piece of fan merch that is still subtle enough to wear everyday as a lovely accessory with any outfit.

From charm bracelets to necklaces and chokers, there’s plenty to choose from. Plus if none of the ready-made items take you fancy, you can drop them a line to ask for a custom-made order made completely for you! The best thing of all is that you could stand a chance at getting one of these lil beauties for free, as they are hosting a giveaway! Check out all the details on their Instagram, right here.

And there you have it! Three geeky gift ideas to spark your brain. Do you have a favourite amongst the three? Or perhaps you know of another awesome nerdy gift idea that I’ve not covered? Drop your thoughts in a comment below!
